Petrick Brown Obituary, Augusta Car Accident, Death ; 52-year-old Died in Peach Orchard Road crash

Authorities in Augusta are investigating two separate pedestrian-related incidents that occurred Wednesday morning in Richmond County, including a fatal crash that claimed the life of 52-year-old Petrick Brown.

According to the Richmond County Coroner’s Office, Brown died after being struck by a vehicle in a parking lot off Peach Orchard Road during the early morning hours.

Deputies responded to the 3100 block of Peach Orchard Road at approximately 5:06 a.m. after receiving reports of an injured person. When officers arrived, they determined that Brown had been struck by a vehicle that remained at the scene following the collision.

Preliminary findings indicate that Brown was walking through a dimly lit parking lot while wearing dark clothing. Investigators reported that the vehicle involved was traveling north through a designated lane within the parking area.

Authorities stated that the driver told investigators he did not see the pedestrian as Brown stepped into the vehicle’s path.

Emergency responders transported Brown to Wellstar MCG, where he was later pronounced dead at 5:44 a.m., according to the coroner’s office.

Officials confirmed that an autopsy has been scheduled as part of the ongoing investigation.

The incident has left family members and loved ones grieving the sudden loss of Brown, whose death occurred amid a morning that also included another unrelated pedestrian investigation in Richmond County.

In a separate case, deputies responded to the 1800 block of Wylds Road at approximately 8:23 a.m. after reports that a pedestrian had been struck by a train. Authorities confirmed that the Richmond County Traffic Division responded to the scene; however, further details have not yet been released.

Investigators continue working to determine the full circumstances surrounding both incidents.

Fatal pedestrian crashes remain a concern in many communities, particularly during early morning hours when low visibility can increase risks for both drivers and pedestrians.

Authorities have not announced whether any charges or citations will be filed in connection with the Peach Orchard Road incident, as the investigation remains ongoing.
