Tripp Brazeale Obituary, Forrest City, Death; Deputy Alvin Merle “Trey” Bynum Suspected For Murder Of Teen

The death of 15-year-old Tripp Brazeale in Forrest City continues to weigh heavily on his family, supporters, and many throughout St. Francis County, where questions surrounding the teenager’s final hours remain the subject of intense public discussion and emotional debate.

What began as a nighttime ATV ride near Crow Creek on November 4, 2024, ended in tragedy when Tripp disappeared into the woods after reportedly fleeing from deputies during an encounter involving off-road vehicles. Nearly 35 hours later, searchers discovered his body hanging from a tree deep within the wooded area.

The St. Francis County Sheriff’s Office ultimately ruled the death a suicide. However, Tripp’s family has strongly disputed that conclusion from the beginning, insisting there are unanswered questions and inconsistencies they believe warrant renewed scrutiny.

According to supporters and relatives, deputies were initially investigating an unrelated missing persons matter when they encountered ATV riders in the rural area outside Forrest City. Reports surrounding the case allege that Deputy Alvin Merle “Trey” Bynum pursued Tripp after the teenager fled into the darkness on a four-wheeler.

Family members say Tripp had long expressed fear of law enforcement encounters involving ATV riders in the area. Supporters insist he was not dangerous and was simply a frightened teenager afraid of getting into trouble.

According to accounts shared publicly by the family, Tripp abandoned his ATV after it stalled, crossed a fence, and disappeared into wooded terrain shortly after midnight. One of the most disputed elements of the case involves Deputy Bynum’s body camera, which supporters allege stopped recording during the pursuit and remained inactive for approximately 49 minutes while Tripp was missing in the woods.

For the Brazeale family, those missing minutes have become central to their concerns. Relatives say Tripp called his mother during that time and sounded frightened but coherent. According to the family, he reportedly said he intended to return toward law enforcement officers and surrender so he could go home.

He never returned.

Search crews spent nearly two days combing the rural wooded area before locating Tripp’s body approximately three-quarters of a mile from where his ATV had been left behind. The discovery devastated his family and immediately intensified questions surrounding the circumstances of his death.

Supporters have publicly pointed to several concerns they believe deserve additional investigation, including reported injuries, questions about evidence found near the scene, and the condition in which some of Tripp’s belongings were recovered. They also note that an independent autopsy reportedly listed the manner of death as “undetermined,” which further fueled calls for the case to be reopened.

Questions have additionally circulated regarding Deputy Bynum’s employment history and the handling of records requests connected to his law enforcement career. These claims and allegations continue to be discussed publicly by supporters, though many details remain disputed and have not been fully resolved through official findings.

The case has become deeply emotional throughout Arkansas, particularly among those who believe more answers are still needed. Tripp’s mother, Jennifer Brazeale, has continued speaking publicly about her son’s death and her desire for additional investigation. His father, Gil Brazeale, has also remained outspoken regarding accountability, particularly involving body-camera procedures and law enforcement transparency.

For authorities, the investigation reached a conclusion. For Tripp’s family and supporters, however, the case remains far from resolved.

As time passes, the memory of Tripp Brazeale continues to resonate across the community — not only because of the controversy surrounding his death, but because loved ones remember him as a teenager with a future, a family who loved him deeply, and a life they believe ended under circumstances that still demand answers.
